Vivek Agnihotri slams Bollywood stars: ‘Most money is wasted in vanity and lifestyle of stars’
The Kashmir Files director Vivek Agnihotri claimed in a new tweet that 'Bollywood is in a bad shape.'

Filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri, who is best known for helming the controversial The Kashmir Files, has once again taken a dig at Bollywood, by sharing an article about big movie stars who charge exorbitant fees but are unable to guarantee a successful release.
The article mentioned how superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan is an anomaly in an otherwise lacklustre year of Hindi films. While Ajay Devgn and Tabu’s Bholaa, and Ranbir Kapoor-Shraddha Kapoor romantic comedy Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar has indeed performed decently at the box office, the same cannot be said about other big-ticket releases like Kartik Aaryan’s Shehzada, or Akshay Kumar-Emraan Hashmi film Selfiee.
Bollywood is in bad shape. Again. Seems as if the entire industry is happy giving unrealistic and exorbitant fees to stars who can’t even guarantee an opening. Most money is wasted in vanity and lifestyle of stars. What’s going wrong? @mid_day pic.twitter.com/iRKQK5142F

Sharing screenshots from the article, the director wrote, “Bollywood is in bad shape. Again. Seems as if the entire industry is happy giving unrealistic and exorbitant fees to stars who can’t even guarantee an opening. Most money is wasted in vanity and lifestyle of stars. What’s going wrong?”
Netizens were quick to react to his tweet as one of them wrote, “Sir, I agree that exorbitant fees should be avoided but what about more realistic / entertaining/ awakening storyline or scripts that touch audience… where are they??” Another mentioned, “They haven’t come out of the 2000s and 2010s when star power played a huge role in pulling crowds. Post covid scenario has totally placed the ball in the court of content.” Another person seemingly implied that everyone goes through a good and bad phase, writing, “Waiting for such tweet after ur next movie…wait and watch.”
Vivek Agnihotri is now looking forward to the release of The Vaccine War, based on a story revolving around the Covid-19 pandemic.
