Virat Kohli would often visit Anushka Sharma at her Mumbai apartment before wedding, recalls Vivek Agnihotri: ‘Kids would run behind his car’

Vivek Agnihotri shared Anushka Sharma was his neighbour back in those days and would often be visited by her beau Virat Kohli at her apartment where she lived with her family.

Before marrying Virat Kohli, Anushka Sharma lived in an apartment in Mumbai. Her family had moved from Bangalore to live with her. Apparently, during the same time, filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri too lived there with his family and had developed a friendship with the actor’s father. It was also the time when Anushka and Virat were dating each other and would often meet each other at the actor’s residence.

Recently, speaking at The Raunac Podcast, Vivek Agnihotri expressed his admiration for Virat Kohli. He claimed he loves him as a cricketer. When asked if he ever had an opportunity to meet him, Vivek Agnihotri had a very interesting story to share.

He recalled the time when Anushka was his neighbour. “Anushka Sharma was my neighbour back then. We lived in the same society, we moved out and they must have too… but her father is still a great friend of mine. Much before their wedding, Virat would often come to her house, to meet her. Children in our street used to go crazy. They would run behind his car in fondness. That is the only memory I have of him. I have never met him personally. Also, I am not too much into cricket, I never find time between my work. I have been busy,” said the filmmaker.

Virat-Anushka’s love story

Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma met each other during an ad shoot of a shampoo commercial in 2013. Soon, reports of them dating each other surfaced online. During their courtship, they often faced public scrutiny followed by breakup rumours. However, they put it all to an end when they secretly married each other in December 2017 in Italy, and shared their wedding pictures online. In 2021, they welcomed their first child, a daughter Vamika Kohli. Three years later, in 2024, they welcomed their son Akaay Kohli.

The couple mostly live in the UK and visit India during cricket matches and other important events.
