Vikram Bhatt shares how Awara Pagal Deewana got an ‘A’ certificate: ‘Maybe the censor board thought that I was endorsing adultery’
On Cyrus Broacha's podcast, Vikram Bhatt talks about his journey in Bollywood.

Filmmaker Vikram Bhatt recently recalled how many of his films, including Ghulam and Awara Paagal Deewana, received an ‘A’ certification from the censor board. He also talked about his film Tumko Meri Kasam.
Vikram discussed his films receiving an ‘A’ certificate on the Cyrus Says podcast, hosted by Cyrus Broacha. When asked whether Awara Paagal Deewana was given an adult certification due to his reputation as a bold filmmaker, he responded, “The film came out 22 years ago, and in the story, Akshay Kumar’s sister dates Aftab, while his wife falls for Suniel Shetty. Maybe the censor board thought it was a lesson in adultery and that I was endorsing it.”

During the interaction, Vikram also shared why a director has to be fully aware on the set. “I have to remember everything because the set is like this, because questions are coming at you all the time and some ridiculous ones.”
Vikram Bhatt is currently gearing up for the release of his film Tumko Meri Kasam, which is based on the real-life story of Dr Ajay Murdia, who started Indira IVF. Talking about the movie, Vikram said, “Half of the film is about the journey of starting the IVF clinic, and the second half revolves around Anupam Kher, who plays Ajay, trying to get acquitted for a crime he did not commit.”
