Actor Vidya Balan married producer Siddharth Roy Kapur after dating for a while, but not much was known about their relationship until they decided to make it official. During the inaugural session of Expresso, Vidya said that back then, the paparazzi culture had just started in Bollywood, and the couple ensured they kept their personal lives under wraps. The actor added she had a great time keeping her relationship hidden.
“I didn’t want it coming out anywhere and the paparazzi culture had just started. I remember our first few dates were only in the car. We would keep driving around. From Bandra to Town and back. But those were heady times, very exciting and I think the fun was also there because there was a slightly clandestine quality to it, which I completely enjoyed. It was great fun,” Vidya said.
When asked if before marriage, the advances of men confused her about their intention, Vidya Balan said that sometimes she did wonder if she was approached for her star status.
“I am not a very social person so I wasn’t really putting myself out there. I wasn’t really meeting people but I have to admit that when I met someone for the first time, I would wonder if they are interested in me Or in ‘Vidya Balan,'” said the Do Aur Do Pyaar actor.
However, there was no confusion when she met Siddharth Roy Kapur. Vidya said, “But when I met Siddharth, I didn’t feel that from the word Go. I think it’s because he is also very well-accomplished and a secure man, so he was just looking at me as a prospective girlfriend. So it was easy there.”
