Vidya Balan, Asha Bhosle and Pankaj Udhas to be honoured with the prestigious Deenanath Mangeshkar award

Celebrated artistes such as singer Asha Bhosle, Pankaj Udhas and actor Vidya Balan will be honoured with the prestigious Deenanath Mangeshkar Smruti Pratishthan Award, come April 24, according to reports. The award will be held on late music veteran Deenanath Mangeshkar’s memorial day.

The awards are held every year in which the Mangeshkhar family (younger siblings of the late Lata Mangeshkar, Usha Mangeshkar and Hridaynath Mangeshkar) honours various artistes for their contributions to the field of arts and society at large. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is said to be its first recipient.

This time, the recipient of the award also includes actor Vidya Balan, who will be receiving the Vishesh Puraskar for her significant contribution to cinema, whereas ghazal singer Pankaj Udhas will be conferred with the honour for his contribution to Indian music.

In a statement shared by the Mangeshkars, they stated, “In memory of Master Deenanathji, whose monumental contributions as singer, musician and stage artiste have been an inspiration to the people of Maharashtra and India, the Mangeshkar family organises the Master Deenanath Mangeshkar Smruti Pratishthan Awards to honour legends. We are glad that we have the love and support of the masses,” PTI noted.

On the work front, Vidya Balan was last seen in the Amazon Prime Video drama Jalsa, along with Shefali Shah. She is said to be currently working on another Amazon Prime project called Neeyat, which is also said to star actors such as Rahul Bose, Ram Kapoor, Shahana Goswami and Amrita Puri. Its release date is yet to be announced.
