Vicky Kaushal says he refused to buy an expensive bar wife Katrina Kaif wanted: ‘Main tray leke khada ho jaunga…’
Vicky Kaushal was in splits when he was asked whether he would divorce Katrina Kaif if 'he found a better actress'.

Actor Vicky Kaushal says he isn’t a miser but, despite the fame that has come his way through films, is very much still a middle class boy. During the trailer launch of his latest Zara Hatke Zara Bachke, Vicky opened up about the dynamics he shares with actor wife Katrina Kaif at home.
Vicky and Katrina, after keeping their relationship under wraps for months, tied the knot in December 2021. At the trailer launch of the film, which was attended by co-star Sara Ali Khan, Vicky was asked if he is a miser–much like his character in Zara Hatke Zara Bachke.
The actor then revealed that recently Katrina told him that she is keen to have a bar at home, but he was completely thrown off when saw its price tag. Vicky quipped it was so expensive he thought it’s better if he himself stands with a tray to serve drinks than buy the piece.
“We have a lot of discussions about furniture at home. Like for example, Madam (Katrina) wants to have a bar at home. She sent me the bar she is thinking to buy, I saw that and thought ye bohot mehenge hai, main he tray leke kahada ho jauga but ye nahi aayega (I would myself stand with a tray, but we can’t buy it because it is too expensive). This is worth my signing amount! So I said, no, this can’t happen.”
Directed by Laxman Utekar, known for helming Luka Chuppi and Mimi, Zara Hatke Zara Bachke also stars Rakesh Bedi, Sharib Hashmi, Neeraj Sood and others. Billed as a family entertainer, the film explores the “unique love story” of Kapil and Soumya, played by Vicky and Sara respectively, who want to divorce each other.
At the event, Vicky, who has been married for close to two years now, was asked a bizarre question about his hypothetical divorce which left him in splits. Vicky Kaushal was in splits when he was asked whether he would divorce Katrina Kaif if ‘he found a better actress’. The actor replied, “Sir, shaam ko ghar bhi jaana hai, aise tede-mede sawaal puch rahe ho, bachcha hu, abhi bada toh hone do! Itna khatarnaak sawaal puch hai aapne (Sir, I also have to go home, please don’t ask such questions. I am just a child, let me grow up at least. This is a dangerous question).”
Vicky then took a pause and concluded, “Sir, janmo-janmo tak (I will be with Katrina for lifetimes to come).” At the event, the actor was also asked why his characters in films don’t get along with women on screen– from Manmarziyaan to his last release, Govinda Naam Mera. To which, Vicky replied, “God always balances life. My real life is sorted, that I got Katrina Kaif, so in reel life I will have a problem. But my real life is sorted.”
Presented by Jio Studios and Dinesh Vijan and backed by Maddock Films and Jyoti Desphande, Zara Hatke Zara Bachke is written by Laxman Utekar, Maitrey Bajpai and Ramiz Khan. The film is slated to release in cinemas on June 2.
