Baby John Movie Review & Rating: Varun Dhawan in a still from Baby John.
Varun Dhawan, who will soon be seen in Baby John, recently opened up about his upcoming film at an event for the film in Mumbai. The actor spoke about collaborating with Salman Khan and Diljit Dosanjh on the Atlee production. He also spoke about releasing the film on Christmas and mentioned that no other big-ticket Hindi film had released in theatres in over 50 days. However, Pushpa The Rule has been making the big bucks across India in all languages.
Talking about releasing the film on Christmas, Varun said that earlier, it was Aamir Khan who would release his films during this time of the year. “A strong backing is very much needed for Baby John. In today’s environment, if you have to bring a film you need very strong production support otherwise it gets very difficult to release a film. Nowadays, only larger than life films are being made, and it will be approximately 55 days after which a Hindi film is going to release. I always wanted one film of mine to release on Christmas. We had to really fight and struggle to get this date. Historically, on this date, Aamir sir used to release a lot of films. We are thankful to him for giving us this date.” Aamir Khan had previously hinted that his film Sitaare Zameen Par would release in December 2024 but recently, at the Red Sea International Film Festival, Aamir confirmed that the film will release in 2025.
Varun also spoke about Salman’s cameo in the film. Salman was one of Varun’s guiding figures during his early years in the movies. Recalling his interaction with Salman, Varun said, “He just said, ‘Baby John, bada ho gaya hai baby’, I don’t know if that was a compliment.”
The Student of the Year actor also spoke about working with Diljit Dosanjh in the film’s special song. The two are announced as co-actors for No Entry 2 as well, along with Arjun Kapoor. Talking about Diljit, Varun said, “It was great working with Diljit paaji. The whole country loves him a lot, he is entertaining us through his tours and he was a dream to work with. He is in a spiritual place. We had great time. We are doing a film together now Border 2.”
Baby John is directed by Kalees and also stars Keerthy Suresh and Wamiqa Gabbi in important roles.
