The Diplomat box office collection day 5: John Abraham’s film dips further, but passes Rs 15 crore mark

The Diplomat Box Office Collection Day 5: John Abraham‘s latest film The Diplomat’s box office trajectory began on an impressive note. However, it began tanking after the weekend. Ever since Monday, the film has been seeing a drop in numbers, and its downhill spiral only continued on Tuesday, when it collected Rs 1.47 crores. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the political thriller had witnessed a dip of 67.47 percent on Monday. The drop in its earnings continued on Tuesday too. After five days, The Diplomat’s total nett collection in India is Rs 16.2 crore.

While his last film Vedaa performed slightly better at the box office on its fifth day, The Diplomat’s total collection is more than what Vedaa earned in five days (Rs 15.5 crore). John Abraham’s latest film is based on real-life incidents, and it opened to mixed reviews. With Rs 3.3 crore from overseas markets, The Diplomat’s gross global collections stand at Rs 21 crore.

According to Sacnilk, the overall Hindi occupancy for The Diplomat stood at 8.46 percent on Tuesday, with a total of 2657 shows running all over India. With 22 shows, Chennai had the highest occupancy of 27 percent, followed by Pune, where the film’s occupancy was 12.25 percent with 181 shows. Jaipur saw an occupancy of 11.75 percent with 82 shows. The occupancy in Mumbai was 10 percent with 469 shows, while in Delhi-NCR, the occupancy was 7.75 percent with 739 shows.

Other than John Abraham, The Diplomat also stars Sadia Khateeb, Sharib Hashmi, Kumud Mishra, and Revathy in important roles. The film is directed by Shivam Nair and co-produced by JA Entertainment, Wakaoo Films, T-Series, Seeta films, and Fortune Films. It had a theatrical release on March 14.
