When Jackie Shroff gave an ultimatum to the man who fired co-star Suresh Menon from his debut film

Actor Suresh Menon, who made his Bollywood debut with Jackie Shroff-starrer Kabhi Na Kabhi, opened up about how Shroff stood up for him when he was fired unceremoniously. On the Wake Up With Sorabh podcast, Menon said that Shroff not only defended him, but also put the person who’d fired him in their place.

Menon recalled that he asked an executive if he could have some time to go and shoot for another project, and instead of having the discussion, the executive fired him on the spot for acting out of line. He said, “So Goodnight Films were the producers and they had a guy called Kumar. So I had to go in and ask Kumar, ‘Sir next week I have to shoot in Mumbai, so when can I leave?’ So he fired me and said, ‘You are playing friends role and asking for dates.’”

The actor then recalled that Shroff’s makeup man came to him, and said, “Sir bula rahe hain(Sir is calling you).” Shroff asked Menon, “Haan bhidu bol kya hua. Kumar ke saath kya hua bata (Tell me what happened)?” Menon continued, “So, he takes my hand and he goes to Kumar, ‘Yeh mera bhai hai. Agli baar gaali nahi dunga, ek idhar he dunga (He took me to Kumar and told him, ‘He is my brother. Next time I will not shout, I will hit you)’.”

Menon said that Kumar then apologised multiple times to them. The actor added, “And I am thinking, why did he have to do that for me, that’s the guy, that’s Jackie Shroff.” The actor, who has been a part of films such as Grand Masti, Humshakals and Housefull, was last seen in Hrithik Roshan’s Kaabil.
