Sunny Leone records statement in connection with obscenity case

Sunny Leone visited the Thane police headquarters and met cyber crime cell officials based in the premises in connection with a recent FIR registered against her.

Adult film star turned Bollywood actress Sunny Leone on Wednesday (May 26) visited the Thane police headquarters and met cyber crime cell officials based in the premises in connection with a recent FIR registered against her.

The Dombivli police station in the Thane district had on May 14 booked Sunny Leone under the Indian Penal Code, the Indecent Representation of Women’s Act and the Information Technology Act, and had forwarded the complaint to the Cyber Crime Cell for further investigation.

The FIR was registered after Anjali Palan, a Dombivli based housewife and social activist complained to the police against the photographs and videos on Sunny Leone’s website, saying that they were pornographic in nature and gave rise to obscenity in the society.

Joint Commissioner of Police V V Laxminarayan, Thane confirmed that Sunny Leone visited the headquarters on Tuesday.

“Sunny Leone came to the headquarters premises with her lawyer and met officials of the cyber crime cell who are investigating the case. She recorded her statement and left,” said Laxminarayan.

A spokesperson for Sunny Leone, when contacted, declined to comment, saying that the matter was subjudice.
