Sunny Leone grateful for support she received after her infamous interview, but repents: ‘For you guys to notice I am a human, I had to…’
In a recent interview, Sunny Leone spoke about feeling cornered in the 2016 infamous interview, and how she manages the baggage of her past career.

Sunny Leone, along with her Kennedy team, was in Cannes for the premiere of their film. Directed by Anurag Kashyap, the thriller stars Rahul Bhat as the male lead, while Sunny plays a powerful character named Charlie. While in France, the actor spoke to the media about transitioning from the adult film industry to now taking her film at the prestigious festival and the struggles that came along.
Speaking to Brut, Sunny also opened up about her ‘infamous’ interview with a senior journalist from 2016, which made a lot of noise. She shared that she did not have an issue with the questions asked but the manner in which they were asked. Sunny also shared that given it happened when she was just starting out, she had requested the interviewer to allow someone from the team to see the footage so that something that could hurt anyone doesn’t go out. However, they refused her stating that she could ask her team to transcribe the video once it’s played the next day.
“When it did play, I had so many media houses and my fans transcribing it for me. Also, the backlash that he faced was incredible, it was insane to watch,” Sunny added with a smile. The actor shared that she was overwhelmed to see so much support. However, it hurt her to know that she had to go through hell to be able to be looked at as a ‘human’. “No one should be treated that way. It was the worst feeling. It took me a little bit to come out of it,” she recalled.

The Splitsvilla host also confessed that she wanted to walk away from the interview but could not. She also lamented how no one stood up for her. “I didn’t have anyone in my corner. No one from my team was present. And the ones there did not for a second, thought about helping me. It was uncalled for… (but) it has made me stronger. I understand this is not normal. Today, I have a great team that’s always behind me.”
Sunny Leone further spoke about carrying the baggage of her previous career. She mentioned how she is not ashamed of her past, and it is what has made her who she is today. Sunny also said that while it did create hurdles and barriers for her, she has managed to push that past, and has moved on. “Everyone has a past and that passes away. That has passed and then Bollywood started. Everything I have done was by choice. I am not a victim of a horror story. They have all been my choices,” the actor added.
Earlier, in an interview with indianexpress.com, Sunny Leone opened up about dealing with hate and bullying when she was starting in India. “It is almost like a coping mechanism for me. There are always going to be people who put you down and say not so nice things about you but I need to worry and think about myself and how to turn all that negativity into what makes me happy. I have read lots and lots of bad articles or things that people say (about me), but you can’t let that stop you,” she said.
