Sunny Deol blushes as he romances Ameesha Patel on stage: ‘Itne saare logo ke saamne yeh sab karna…’

Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel will soon be returning as Tara Singh and Sakeena in the sequel of Gadar – Ek Prem Katha and the lead stars of the film recently took the stage at the Zee Cine Awards. In a promo shared on social media, Sunny and Ameesha are romancing to the famous song ‘Udd Jaa Kaale Kaawa’, as Sunny’s brother Bobby Deol looks at them proudly from the audience.

Sunny, who usually stays away from the spotlight and is known to be quite reserved, takes the mic and says , “Itne saare logo ke saamne yeh sab karna, zara ajeeb sa lagta hai (It feels a little odd to do this in front of so many people).” The promo ends with Sunny Deol roaring “Hindustan zindabad.”

Directed by Anil Sharma, Gadar 2 is scheduled to release on August 11. The original film released in 2001 and became the biggest box office hit of the year.

Sunny previously shared in a statement, “Gadar – Ek Prem Katha has been an eminent part of my life, personally as well as professionally. Tara Singh from Gadar isn’t just a protagonist but went on to become a cult icon that defied all odds and crossed all boundaries for his family and love. Collaborating with the team after, 22 years was a creatively enriching experience.”

Anil Sharma shared, “Gadar – Ek Prem Katha isn’t my film but it’s people’s film and dynamically shifted the paradigm of the Indian film industry. It went on to become a cult icon wherein people breathed Tara Singh and Sakina’s love story. We are absolutely thrilled to launch the first poster.”

It was previously announced that ahead of the sequel, the original film will be re-released in theatres on June 15 marking its 22nd anniversary.
