‘Suhana Khan walked The Archies sets with a book, like dad Shah Rukh Khan’: Koel Purie calls the young actor a ‘reader, interesting person’

“I enjoy her company, I enjoy her brain, her humour, and I know she enjoys mine,” she said. Recalling the time when she asked Suhana to be a part of the launch, Koel said that the young actor was initially hesitant but after Koel’s pitch, she readily agreed. “She said, ‘Koel, you know I can do anything with you. I love that but let me think about this’. I was also very clear that ‘Suhana, this is a literary event. No one has seen that side of you. People know you as a fashion icon, beauty person, actor, no one knows your brain yet’. She said yes very soon after that.”

Koel said that she met Suhana a couple of weeks before the event to prepare for it. “I had gone fully prepared. My thing was that Suhana comes across well, my book comes across well. The day we met, I shut off my computer because she had come with a diary of notes. She had put stickers, underlined passages, she had her favourite parts picked out. Later, I got to know that she is a literature student. Her favourite thing is to analyse text, and break it down. Because she had finished Archies and the next one hasn’t started yet, so she had some time on her hands,” she shared.

“When she came, she came not only having loved my book but having done all her homework, what more can a writer ask for? And she’s a friend. It was like the universe was blessing me,” Koel shared.

Suhana’s appearance at the event had her parents Gauri Khan and Shah Rukh Khan blessing her for it as they shared social media messages about the same. “The first event I ever attended with @iamsrk was a book launch… and now watching @suhanakhan2 speak at another such event has made me feel like life has come full circle,” wrote Gauri Khan. Shah Rukh Khan also wrote, “The circle of life is closing in for us with our babies helping us complete it. @gaurikhan You’ve done so well with the three of them…educated them, taught them dignity & desire to share love…& Suhana is so articulate but the dimple is mine!!”
