Sonu Sood breaks silence on helmetless bike ride after video sparks debate: ‘It was part of the script’

Actor Sonu Sood found himself in an unusual situation after facing backlash for posting a video in which he is seen riding a bike without a helmet. The Spiti police took note of the video and stated on X (formerly Twitter) that they would look into the matter and determine the appropriate course of action. In response, Sood shared another video from Spiti, this time wearing a helmet while riding.

The actor posted the video on his Instagram Stories and the caption read, “Safety first, we always abide by the laws, an old clip without the helmet was part of the script, so kindly ignore. Ride safe, ride smart and always wear a helmet.” In the video, Sood is seen riding alongside his crew in a compilation of clips showing him traversing the valley on a bike. The video seems to be old and even the Spiti police have talked about this fact saying, “According to preliminary information, the video appears to be from the year 2023. The task of investigating the authenticity has been handed over to DySP Headquarters, Kyelang.”

Sonu Sood, known for his philanthropic work and past role as a road safety ambassador, is facing intense scrutiny due to the contradiction between his public image and the viral video. Apart from the video on his Instagram handle and the caption along with it, the actor has not made any official statement regarding the controversy. Fans have expressed disappointment and called for accountability. One user on X wrote, “So will @himachalpolice take any action on @SonuSood for riding naked without a helmet in Spiti? No protective gear, no clothes—God knows what he’s trying to promote. Are celebrities above the law?'”

On the professional front, Sood was last seen in Fateh, which marked his directorial debut. The film also starred Jacqueline Fernandez, Naseeruddin Shah, Vijay Raaz, and Dibyendu Bhattacharya.
