‘Nervous’ Zaheer Iqbal recalls meeting father-in-law Shatrughan Sinha for the first time: ‘Once we started talking…’

Zaheer also opened up about his meeting with Shatrughan and admitted that he was quite “nervous” before he sat down with Shatrughan as they had never had a one-on one chat before this. He recalled that as soon as they started talking, they “became like friends.” Sonakshi shared that even she was “very nervous” when she had to talk to her father about Zaheer as she didn’t know how he would react. She recalled asking her father “Aren’t you worried about my marriage because you haven’t asked me about it?” When Sonakshi told him about Zaheer, her father said that he had read about it in the media and said, “You guys are grown ups, miya biwi raazi toh kya karega qazi.” She found him to be “really supportive” about the relationship.

When asked if there was any truth to the rumours about her parents being unhappy about her decision to marry Zaheer, even though it looked like they were supportive in the wedding pictures, Sonakshi said that her father Shatrughan was “very emotional” when he stood next to her at the wedding. She shared that her mother actually broke down during the wedding.

Days before Sonakshi’s wedding, Shatrughan had said that he wasn’t aware of his daughter’s wedding plans. Even after the wedding, he hinted that there was some discord within the family. Sonakshi’s brother Luv Sinha did not attend her wedding.
