Sky Force box office collection day 3: Akshay Kumar-Veer Pahariya film crosses Rs 60 cr mark; likely to be Akshay’s first hit since OMG 2
Sky Force box office collection day 3: On Sunday, the Akshay Kumar and Veer Pahariya-starrer recorded a 25 per cent increase from its Saturday earnings of Rs 22 crore.

Sky Force box office collection day 3: Once a powerhouse in Bollywood, boasting a success rate that even outshone the three Khans, actor Akshay Kumar has been going through a rough patch for the last few years, with most of his recent films failing to make a mark at the box office. However, after more than three years, the tides appear to be turning in his favour, as his latest actioner Sky Force delivers an impressive performance.
Helmed by Abhishek Anil Kapur and Sandeep Kewlani, Sky Force, also starring Veer Pahariya, recorded an India nett collection of Rs 27.5 crore on Sunday, marking a 25 per cent increase from its Saturday earnings of Rs 22 crore, according to early estimates from industry tracker Sacnilk. This brings the film’s total domestic nett collection to Rs 61.75 crore. What makes the movie’s Sunday collection particularly noteworthy is that it is over 120 per cent higher than its opening day collection of Rs 12.25 crore.
On Sunday, the film recorded an overall occupancy rate of 42.44 per cent in the Hindi market. The day commenced with a strong 26.78 per cent occupancy during morning shows, which climbed to 47.22 per cent in the afternoon and peaked at 56.52 per cent in the evening, before eventually declining to 39.24 per cent during the night screenings.
Since the success of Sooryavanshi (2021), even Akshay’s most highly anticipated big-budget films have struggled at the box office, with the sole exception being OMG 2, which primarily featured Pankaj Tripathi in the lead role. Considering that it has been mounted on a reported budget of Rs 160 crore, Sky Force holds strong potential to cross the break-even point. However, it will face tough competition from Shahid Kapoor’s eagerly awaited action thriller Deva, which will hit the screens this Friday.

In comparison to Akshay’s post-Sooryavanshi releases, Sky Force has displayed a stronger box office performance. While Bachchhan Paandey managed to eke out only Rs 12 crore on its first Sunday, his subsequent films — Samrat Prithviraj (Rs 16.1 crore), Raksha Bandhan (Rs 7.05 crore), Ram Setu (Rs 7.25 crore), Selfiee (Rs 3.95 crore), Mission Raniganj (Rs 5 crore), Bade Miyan Chote Miyan (Rs 9.05 crore), Sarfira (Rs 5.25 crore) and Khel Khel Mein (Rs 3.85 crore) — also failed to leave a significant impact. Notably, Sky Force’s first Sunday earnings have even surpassed those of OMG 2 (Rs 17.55 crore).
The only recent Akshay Kumar-starrer to have outperformed Sky Force is director Rohit Shetty’s multi-starrer Singham Again (2024). However, it is worth mentioning that despite featuring a stellar ensemble cast, the film lagged behind the horror-comedy Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3.
