Shraddha Kapoor on slowing down her pace, doing ‘one film in three years’: ‘I want to be a part of films where I can push myself as an actor’

At the SCREEN launch event in Mumbai on Friday, actress Shraddha Kapoor revealed the kind of shift she desires in her filmography. She says she wants to do films which 'subliminally' pass on a message to the audience.

After over a decade in Bollywood, Shraddha Kapoor has reflected on her evolving approach to film selection. Speaking at the SCREEN launch event in Mumbai on Friday, Shraddha emphasised her desire for meaningful storytelling and embracing quality over quantity. The actor shared that she is at a phase in her career now, where she is seeking impactful roles that resonate with audiences.

She said, “I feel like, very honestly, I believe that my best is yet to come. I definitely want to feel, when I’m going to be in a film, that there’s going to be something exciting for me as an actor. There’s going to be something riveting, a story with a message subliminally passed on to the audience.”

Shraddha Kapoor is now in a quest to seek films offering substance over quantity. “There was a time when I was doing films back to back, now it’s become the opposite. It’s like one film in three years. That happened with Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar and Baaghi 3 and it’s fine. I have found my comfort in that now. I want to be a part of films where I feel fulfilled as an actor and (where) I can push myself as an actor as well. (I) definitely (want to) do something different than I have done before.”

Her newfound patience stems from recognising the extensive effort behind filmmaking. Discussing why her next project is still under wraps, she said, “But that doesn’t mean that I have to have a line up of films, my next film hasn’t even been announced and it’s ok because it takes a lot for anybody to be a part of a film. It takes months and a lot of work and a lot of prep. So, till I feel that from the bottom of my heart, yeah…”
