Shekhar Kapur shares cryptic post after Suchitra Krishnamoorthi’s cheating allegations: ‘I am only human’

Shekhar and Suchitra were married for nine years before they parted ways. They have a daughter together. In a recent chat with Siddharth Kannan, Suchitra said, “My parents were against this marriage as Shekhar was my mother’s age at that time and he was divorced and from the film industry. My mother sat at my feet and begged me not to go forward with this marriage. They asked me to have an affair and get it out of my head. But I was sure that this is what I want and it is something that I brought on myself.”

Suchitra said that she had made up her mind about leaving Shekhar but then she got pregnant and chose to stay. A few years later, she chose to get out. “After getting pregnant, I stayed for a few years, but then I said, ‘Forget it, mujhse nahi hota,” she said. Talking about Shekhar’s infidelity, Suchitra said, “I don’t think marriages break because of infidelity, they break up because of disrespect.”

Suchitra had previously accused actor Preity Zinta of having an affair with her husband. Recently, in an interview with Bollywood Thikana, the interviewer quoted Zinta’s statement from the time where she allegedly said, “I am the number one actress and you don’t even work, you are a homemaker. Suchitra, don’t talk to me like that. You need to see a psychiatrist, your mind is not in the right place.” To this, Suchitra responded, “I didn’t have to take it. It’s a free world and she can say what she likes. I am very proud to be a homemaker. I was a full-time mom for 20 years and I am very proud of it.”
