Filmmaker Shekhar Kapur on Friday took to his social media handle and narrated a heartfelt interaction with a female passenger on his flight. The woman, who admired Shekhar's directorial debut Masoom, left the filmmaker deep in thought after posing questions. Shekhar wrote on Instagram, “Was on a flight today ..Someone came and sat next to me ..Wish they hadn’t ..Not because they were not nice .. but because of the question she asked me.” The woman told the filmmaker, “Sir, I watch Masoom at least once every month. Every time I cry, I find a different story in it ..‘I hear you’re making a sequel, Sir, I even read the title .. ‘Masoom .. the next generation’ right ?” Shekhar said that he froze after hearing this because he knew what was coming. Sir, that scene in which Rahul Bhaiya hurts his finger with a hammer .. and then runs to Shabana Azmi and call her ‘mother’ ! And she screams at him. Sir every time I see that scene , my heart breaks.” After listening to what the passenger said, Shekhar recalled the beauty in the simplicity of his film Masoom. Without any formal training or prior experience in filmmaking, he relied solely on intuition and emotion to guide the film. This taught him the importance of not letting technicalities overshadow genuine feelings and instincts in the creative process. Never force an emotion .. allow it to happen .. allow emotion to flow .. let the film find itself.” Shekhar Kapur made his directorial debut with Masoom in 1983. The film starred Naseeruddin Shah and Shabana Azmi in the lead roles and it was a remake of Malayalam movie Olangal.
