Shatrughan Sinha reveals wife Poonam’s mother was against their marriage: ‘Yeh bihaari, gali ka gunda…’

In the latest episode of The Great Indian Kapil Show, the entire Sinha family – Shatrughan Sinha, Sonakshi Sinha, Poonam Sinha, and the newest addition Zaheer Iqbal, graced the couch. While laughter abound aplenty, several revelations were also made by all of the celebrities during the candid conversation. In a video on YouTube, Shatrughan and Poonam revealed how the latter’s mother disliked the Kalicharan actor and refused her daughter’s hand for marriage at first.

In the video, Archana Puran Singh asks, “Poonam aapne kia propose Shatru ji ko ya unhone kia aapko (You proposed to him or he did to you)?” To which Shatrugan instantly responds, “Inhone karvaaya propose mujhse (She made me do it).” Poonam further adds, “His elder brother came to my house to talk to my mother. My mother said, ‘Not at all, we don’t want any boy from the film fraternity.'”

Shatrughan Sinha quickly takes over the conversation and shares, “She said to my brother, ‘Tumne dekha hai apne bhai ko? Yeh bihaari, gali ka gunda, aur humaari beti doodh ki dhuli hui, itni sundar, gori, aur Miss India (He is a bihari, roadside goon, and our daughter is fair, beautiful and even crowned Miss India). If you make them stand together and click a coloured photograph, it will show a black and white effect only,” pointing out their different complexions.

With the Sinhas appearing on The Great Indian Kapil Show, they have finally put an end to rumours about a spat, after Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal’s inter-caste marriage earlier this year. The Great Indian Kapil Show is currently streaming on Netflix, and new episodes drop every Saturday at 8 pm.
