In the world of films, neither tears nor eyelashes are real and the children of veteran actor Sharmila Tagore learnt it the amusing way. The iconic actor has shared how her children, Saif Ali Khan, Soha Ali Khan and Saba Ali Khan got used to the “fakeness” of the filmmaking early on in their lives.

During an episode 0f Jeena Isi Ka Naam Hai, which originally aired in the mid 200s, Sharmila Tagore was a guest in conversation with host and actor Farooq Shaikh. Sharmila Tagore revealed how Saif once tried to copy her post work make-up removal routine.

“I used to come back and take off my false eyelashes. I came back once and saw Saif trying to pull out his eyelashes as well! I said for God’s sake don’t do that,” the veteran recalled, laughing. “They got used to the fakeness of it quite quickly,” she added.

She was joined by her daughters, Soha and Saba on the episode. The veteran said when Saif was born, she was working “non-stop”, which reduced by the time she had her daughters. “I was doing two-shifts in a day and sometimes I would not see him three-four days in a row. But by the time my daughters were born, I wasn’t working that much, so there wasn’t any filmy atmosphere at home.”

Soha said they didn’t see the “film side” of hers, as they they never saw her getting up and going to work at 5 in the morning for her shoots. Saba said the one set memory she has is when the children had tagged along with her.

“We were taken aback to see her cry profusely. She told us that was glycerin! That’s when we realised that there is something like fake crying as well! That she was ok, there was nothing wrong with Amma,” she recalled.
