Shark Tank India judge Namita Thapar rocks Cannes debut in high slit gown; Kiara Advani, Sobhita Dhulipala leave for festival: ‘I pray I don’t trip’

Kiara Advani and Sobhita Dhulipala are all set to make their big debut at the 77th edition of the Cannes Film Festival. On Thursday, Sobhita was spotted at the Mumbai airport sporting a comfy look, dressed in jeans, flat chappals, and a black crop top. Meanwhile, Kiara made a fashion statement with a light-brown long jacket layered over a cream-colored outfit.

Shark Tank India judge Namita Thapar made her Cannes debut on day 2 of the festival, attending the premiere of Chris Hemsworth-starrer Furiosa A Mad Max Saga. She dazzled in a mint green gown with a leg slit and a long train, designed by Lebanese fashion designer Elio Abou Fayssal.

Talking about the dress, she told Brut, “I love the colour because it is so different. It is a colour that I have never worn before. I just hope that I can manage this long train, but I am having fun… I pray I don’t trip over it (her gown) on the red carpet.”

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has also left for the festival along with her daughter Aaradhya. Aditi Rao Hydari, who debuted at Cannes in 2022, is also slated to attend the prestigious event.

Kiara will be joining the Cannes Film Festival for the Cinema Gala dinner hosted by Vanity Fair, where six women from different backgrounds will be honored for their contributions to the entertainment industry. As for Sobhita, The Monkey Man actor will also join a party hosted by a brand, alongside stars like Troye Sivan and Mura Masa.

The annual 77th edition of the Cannes Film Festival is scheduled to take place from May 14 to May 25, 2024, at the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès in Cannes, France. After 30 years, an Indian film will be featured in the top slot at the Cannes Film Festival. All We Imagine As Light, directed by Payal Kapadia, is the first Indian entry for the Palme d’Or award in decades. It joins works by famous directors like Francis Ford Coppola and Sean Baker.

Deepti Sadhwani, famous for her stints in Hasya Samrat and Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, also debuted at the 77th Cannes Film Festival, attending the premiere of Le Deuxième Acte (The Second Act). Taking to her social media handle, she wrote, “Dreams do come true , and so did mine .. As a child always dreamed about it and finally at the opening ceremony of the 77th Cannes Film Festival at the French Riviera.”
