Shahid Kapoor, who debuted in 2003 film Ishq Vishk, gave a shoutout to the cast of Ishq Vishk Rebound after its song released.

For those who grew up in the ‘2000s, Shahid Kapoor’s debut film, Ishq Vishq and its peppy songs were a phenomenon, making the actor and his co-stars overnight sensations even as the tracks instantly struck a chord with the young millennials. On Tuesday, the makers of the much-awaited romance comedy Ishq Vishk Rebound released the title track of the film. The Haider actor took a trip down memory lane as he reacted to the first song, “Ishq Vishk Pyaar Vyaar” from the upcoming movie. “21 years and the track still sounds fresh. All the best guys! This one will always be special,” Shahid wrote on his Instagram Story, sharing the poster of the new movie.

The original Ishq Vishk starred Shahid, Amrita Rao, Shenaz Treasurywala and Vishal Malhotra, and was directed by Ken Ghosh. The new title track of Ishq Vishk Rebound, composed by Rochak Kohli and sung by Sonu Nigam and Nikita Gandhi, is a modern take on the original and has resonated well with audiences since its launch. Choreographer Vijay Ganguly paid homage to the original song by retaining the iconic hook step created by Ahmed Khan.
In an old interview with the Indian Express, Shahid also spoke about how he was extremely nervous on the first day of his shoot. Talking about his first day on the Ishq Vishk set, he shared, “I was very nervous! I was nervous every day of that film. I think we took about 11-12 retakes in the first shot.” Delving into how he’d bagged the project, he shared, “I gave auditions, I was rejected. Then I gave another set of auditions. And again I was rejected. Then I did a third round of auditions. Then I did dancing auditions. And then, I got the film. It was a long process before I got it.”

The Kabir Singh actor once revealed that he stuck posters of his debut film on the eve of its release. “There was this dude who was sticking some posters. This was at 3 in the morning. And it was my film’s poster. I just walked up to him and I said, ‘Can I stick this with you?’ He said yes. He was so sleepy and I stuck that poster. I don’t think he recognised me and I don’t think he cared who was on that poster, he was just doing his job,” he recalled in an interview with Radio Nasha.

During the song launch in Mumbai, Rochak shared that he made 17-18 versions of the recreated title track. According to IANS, he said, “I made some 17-18 versions of the title track. It’s such an iconic track that every millennial grooved to, and it still rules the hearts. When I was asked by the makers of the film to recreate the track, I pushed myself to do justice to the original track. The new version has been sung by Sonu Nigam with the same energy, and it has been made keeping the Gen Z in mind.”

Lead actor Rohit Saraf clarified that Ishq Vishk Rebound is neither a sequel nor a remake of Shahid’s Ishq Vishk. “The thing common between the two films is that they belong to the same franchise. But it’s a new story altogether, a love story about Gen Z,” he told PTI
Presented by Tips Films and co-produced by Ramesh Taurani and Jaya Taurani, the film tells a new story about the Gen Z experience of love and friendship. Directed by Nipun Avinash Dharmadhikari, Ishq Vishk Rebound stars Rohit, Pashmina Roshan, Jibraan Khan, and Naila Grrewal and is set to release on June 21, 2024.
