The Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Mohabbatein introduced several new actors to the Hindi film industry. To ensure they gave their best performances, SRK took on a mentor-like role off-screen, much like his character in the film. Preeti Jhangiani, who also made her debut in the movie, recently shared in an interview that she learnt humility from SRK on that set and that continues to help her in life. The actor shared that she would often see Shah Rukh sitting on the floor talking to other crew members and never saw any kind of arrogant behaviour from his end.
She shared with Lallantop Cinema, “Sometimes, I would see Shah Rukh Khan sitting on the side and talking to a spot boy and he would be asking him about his life and he would be sitting on the floor. There was no special chair for him with his name.” Preeti shared that in her later films, she observed that other stars wouldn’t behave like this and she recalled how SRK’s grounded behaviour became an inspiration for her.
Preeti Jhangiani recalled an incident when during the shoot of the song “Soni Soni”, she wasn’t getting a shot right but Shah Rukh Khan’s advice helped her in giving an okay take. In Hindi films, actors lip-sync to pre-recorded songs and Preeti was supposed to do the same here as well but was facing some problems. “He came to me and told me that you sing the song. I wouldn’t sing because I had a deep voice. I would get very conscious of it. He asked me to let go and sing loudly. He said the camera catches everything so if you sing loudly, it will show on screen. Then I sang loudly and the shot got okayed,” she shared.
Mohabbatein also starred Amitabh Bachchan, Uday Chopra, Jugal Hansraj, Jimmy Shergill, Kim Sharma, Shamita Shetty, with a special appearance by Aishwarya Rai.
