Superstar Shah Rukh Khan can’t stop celebrating. The actor on Monday met his fans at Yash Raj Studio to celebrate Dunki, his third release of 2023 after Pathaan and Jawan. The three films in total grossed over Rs 2,600 crore globally.

During the special fan event, Shah Rukh opened up about how when his films weren’t working at the box office last decade, he was gripped with self-doubt. His three releases last year, Shah Rukh said, has reaffirmed his faith that he should always follow his instinct.

“I have been working for 33 years. Normally you do feel nervous. You feel, ‘Yaar I hope I have got the film right.’ Before these, there were some films of mine which didn’t work, so I would think ‘Main achchi films bana nahi raha hoon.’ But more than my films, the love that people showered on Pathaan, Jawan, Dunki, from India and outside the country…They have taken me to their heart more than the films and said, ‘Don’t go away for four years. Two-three months is fine.’ So I am thankful to you, the audience and the whole world for making me realise that what I do is right and I need to keep doing it,” he said.

Directed by Rajkumar Hirani, Dunki was a social comedy drama that released in December and saw a box office clash with Prabhas starrer Salaar. The film, co-starring Taapsee Pannu and Vicky Kaushal, opened to mixed reviews and ended up not living up to the expectations of Shah Rukh-Rajkumar Hirani’s maiden collaboration.

Shah Rukh Khan is yet to announce his lineup as the superstar is said to be in talks with several filmmakers to sign his next. Sujoy Ghosh directed The King, which would mark the big screen debut of Suhana Khan, was set to feature him in a special role, but there is no clarity on whether or not Shah Rukh is going ahead with the project.
