Shah Rukh Khan, also fondly known called The King of Bollywood, recently reflected on the similarities between his life and the journey of the iconic character of Mufasa in a new promotional video for the highly anticipated film Mufasa: The Lion King. In the recently released video, Shah Rukh Khan shares the tale of Mufasa, a story of struggle, resilience, and ultimate victory that mirrors his own remarkable rise to stardom.

He is seen saying in the clip, “Yeh kahani hai ek aise raja ki, jise siyasat ki roshni nahin, tanhaiyon ki virasat mili. Lekin uske labon mein basaa tha uska junoon, aur usi junoon se usne zameen se uth kar aasman ko chhoo liya. Zameen par toh kai badshah hukumat karte aaye hain, aur usne raaj kiya sabhi ke dilon ka (This is the story of a king who inherited solitude instead of the throne. Yet, he had a passion so intense that it lifted him from the ground to touch the skies. Many have ruled over lands, but he ruled over everyone’s hearts).” He then said while the story might sound familiar given his own ascent in cinema, the story actually belongs to Mufasa.

Earlier, the makers of the film unveiled its Hindi trailer, offering fans a glimpse of a special collaboration between Shah Rukh Khan and his sons, Aryan Khan and AbRam. While Shah Rukh lends his voice to Mufasa, Aryan voices Simba, and AbRam brings life to young Mufasa. Adding to the regional appeal, the Telugu-dubbed version features superstar Mahesh Babu as the voice of Mufasa, while in the Tamil version, the role is voiced by acclaimed actor Arjun Das.

Directed by Barry Jenkins, the film will release in theatres on December 20.
