Taapsee Pannu will soon be seen with Shah Rukh Khan in Rajkumar Hirani’s Dunki. In a recent interview, Taapsee recalled an incident when Shah Rukh introduced her as “one of the finest actresses” in India, and she was left wondering who was he talking about.

Taapsee shared that she was once invited to a party at Shah Rukh’s house with her younger sister. As they entered his house, she saw him talking to a few foreigners. SRK’s manager informed him that Taapsee had arrived and he just glanced towards her. “He looked at me, in just a glimpse, and told his guests ‘come, let me introduce you to one of the finest actresses we have here.’ I was standing at the door and I started looking around wondering who is he talking about? I actually got worried if I had interrupted something,” she recalled.

Tappsee said that Shah Rukh walked up to her and whispered jokingly, “Beizzati mat kara, tere baare mein hi baat kar raha hun (Don’t insult me, I’m talking about you).” Taapsee said that Shah Rukh gives undivided attention to those around him and is fully aware of his surroundings. “The way industry talks about him, that he makes you feel so important, even if it is your first time meeting him, you will feel like you are the most important person, all of that is true,” she said.

Taapsee further recalled her memories of this party and said that while she assumed that this was his birthday party, it actually turned out to be a Diwali party. While Taapsee was dressed in a regular skirt, the other guests were wearing fancy lehengas. She was starting to feel a bit awkward but then spotted a few other actors who were all dressed in non-Indian clothes, as they too had assumed that this was a birthday party. “There were a few others who were clueless. Rajkummar Rao, Vicky Kaushal, we were all in casual clothes. Like the way you would dress up for a birthday party,” she said.

Taapsee recalled that none of them were aware that this was going to be a Diwali party and they were all wearing the wrong dress code. They joked, “Looks like the memo for Diwali party was just given to Juhu-Bandra people, all the Andheri people don’t know that this is not a birthday party, but a Diwali party.”

Taapsee and Shah Rukh-starrer Dunki is set to release late this year.
