Bollywood actor Sara Ali Khan has opened up about Janhvi Kapoor’s recent statement where the actor claimed that she is yet to receive respect as an actor. Sara, who disagreed with Janhvi, said that respect has never been a problem in her career. In an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Sara said, “I don’t feel under-respected at all. I think I have been given a lot of respect. I think for me, if you accept me for who I am, that’s the biggest sign of respect and touchwood, I got that very early in my career. I think from the very beginning I got respect.” The actor continued, “Maybe what Janhvi could have meant, maybe as an actor one still has to prove themselves. But even then, whether it’s Kedarnath or Atrangi, I read the reviews I was given. I don’t think respect has been a problem for me.” Earlier in an interaction with Barkha Dutt as part of We The Women event, Janhvi Kapoor had said, “I believe I have more to offer and I want to prove to myself that I can take up new challenges and emerge from it. Somewhere it comes down to the line that ‘Mujhe mauke bohot mile hai, par izzat abhi tak nahi mila (I have got a lot of opportunities, but I am yet to earn the respect)’ and I think that’s what I am working for, in my own eyes. It takes a lot to build perception and then break it.” Sara Ali Khan was also asked about the one thing she would kill Kartik Aaryan for. She said, “Honestly I am yet to see somebody that knows the pulse of our audience so well as he does.” Sara will next be seen in Gaslight opposite Vikrant Massey. The film, also starring Chitrangda Singh in the lead role, will stream from March 31 on Disney Plus Hotstar.
