Salman Khan hit-and-run case: High Court defers case to July 1

Public prosecutor Sandip Shinde did not raise any objection. The case was, therefore, adjourned to July 1 for further directions while the court asked the defense to carry out the work expeditiously.

Justice A M Thipsay of the High Court had granted bail to the actor on May 8 and stayed the execution of the five-year jail sentence awarded to the actor in the 13-year-old case while admitting his appeal.

9Later that month, the HC allowed him to travel to Dubai to perform at an award ceremony.

The HC had on May 8 suspended the five-year rigorous jail term handed to him by a sessions court.

Admitting Khan’s appeal against the conviction, the High Court had also expedited the hearing of the case.

The High Court also directed Khan, who did not appear in person, to surrender before the trial court forthwith and execute a bail bond of Rs 30,000 with one or two sureties of a like amount.
