Varun Dhawan’s Baby John is all set to hit the big screen on December 25. The film will mark Varun Dhawan’s return in an action film after his 2015 project Badlapur. While the anticipation among fans has been high as it is being presented by Jawan filmmaker Atlee, the excitement doubled when the makers shared actor Salman Khan will be doing a cameo towards the end of the film. “Salman Khan has shot a solid mass scene”, revealed Atlee.
In a recent conversation with Pinkvilla, Atlee shared how they came up with the idea of Salman’s cameo and what it took them to convince the superstar to agree to do it. Atlee shared, “It was just an initial discussion between me and Murad (Khetani) sir. I told him, ‘Sir, towards the end, I need a cameo… should we ask Salman sir?’ He said, ‘okay’. Next day, he calls me in the morning, and says, ‘Salman has agreed to do a cameo.’ I was shocked. I was like, ‘I was just discussing with you, I don’t have any such scene prepared for it. Let me work on it.'”
Murad Khetani, who was also part of the interview, added, “I didn’t have to convince him (Salman Khan). I was just having a conversation with him over a call. During our chat, I simply asked, ‘Bhai, we wanted to do a scene with you in Baby John’. He was like, ‘Done, let me know when I have to come for it.’ The conversation didn’t go beyond ten seconds.'”
Atlee, who is the presenter of the Kalees-directorial film, shared how it was a fun experience to be present on set with Salman Khan. He said, “I wanted everything to be just perfect as we were having such a superstar coming on our set. As a presenter, I had to be responsible. Despite all of that, I was twenty minutes late. Not that I was tardy, but Salman sir arrived before time. He was asked to reach the set by 1, but he was there by 12:30, we all reached exactly at 1, and we saw him sitting like a lion and waiting for us.”
“I went and said, ‘Hi’, and he replied with a ‘Hi’.” Varun Dhawan quipped, he called him, “‘Bruce Lee ka bhai Atlee’.”
Atlee also shared that after agreeing to do the film, Salman blindly trusted the makers, refusing to hear the scene. “I asked Murad sir if we could meet Salman sir and share the scene with him… when we approached Salman sir for the same, he responded, ‘Its you guys, why do I have to listen to the scene… I will do as you say.’ I have never seen a superstar like that”, said Atlee.
Towards the end, Atlee revealed, “Salman sir was extremely fun loving. We captured great action, we got a good five minutes mass scene. You can call it a Citi maar scene.” The filmmaker also shared to announce another big film, which will reportedly star Salman Khan. “I will surprise you all”, said Atlee.
