Actor Saiyami Kher says she was asked to go under the knife and make changes to her body when she was in her late teens, much before she entered the film industry. Saiyami, who made her Bollywood debut with the 2016 romantic drama Mirzya, said she was asked to change her appearance when she was still a model. In an interview with Indianexpress.com, the actor opened up about the comments on her body and said they were "disheartening" but she had a solid support system in her family to help her navigate this path. "I was asked to get a nose job or boob job done. I was just 18 or 19, this was when I had started modelling, before I got into acting. The advice was, 'Do this before you act so people won't know.' It is very disheartening, but I have a solid support system, I have been very secure with the way I have been made, my parents have made me the person that I am. I don't want a stranger to tell me that my lip is too thin, or nose is too small." Saiyami Kher said she still receives comments about her curly hair but has now learnt to ignore the "frivolous" stuff directed at her, disguised as an advice. There have been very good, positive criticism as well which have come my way, which have made me who I am today as well. I will always be grateful to that and hence will focus on that more than frivolous stuff like these." On the work front, the actor is awaiting the release of her next, Ghoomer. The film, directed by R Balki, features her as a cricketer, who loses her right arm in an accident and is then mentored by Abhishek Bachchan to train and succeed in the sport ye again. "I am obsessed with sports and cricket. Balki sir saw me playing cricket somewhere and said, 'I want to do this film with you', five years ago! This had happened even during Choked, when Anurag Kashyap told me he wants to make a film with me but then nothing happened for the next three years! But it was a no-brainer to do Ghoomer, it is such a strong human story. It was also an extremely challenging role because of the disability. I am glad that he put his faith in me that I could pull this off," she added. Also starring Angad Bedi and Shabana Azmi, Ghoomer will premiere as the opening film at the 14th Indian Film Festival of Melbourne on 11 August. Following that, that sports drama will release in India on August 18.
