‘Saif Ali Khan’s house lacked basic security, Kareena Kapoor panicked after her car was attacked post stabbing’: Ronit Roy recalls incident

Ronit Roy revealed that during his recce of Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor's home, he was shocked to find that even the most basic safety protocols were missing.

Ronit RoyRonit Roy recalled that Kareena Kapoor reached out to him after the stabbing incident, personally requesting him to take charge of Saif’s security.

This year, Bollywood was left stunned when actor Saif Ali Khan was attacked at his home, sustaining serious injuries that led to hospitalisation for an extended period. The incident raised urgent questions about the safety of celebrities and the effectiveness of security protocols surrounding them. Amid the chaos, it was actor Ronit Roy’s security agency that quickly took charge of Saif’s protection. Ronit himself accompanied Saif home upon his discharge from the hospital, a move that made headlines. In a recent appearance on the Hindi Rush podcast, Ronit opened up about the call he received from Kareena Kapoor Khan, requesting him to step in.

“What happened is now part of public record,” he said. “What shocked me was when I spoke to Bebo (Kareena) and went to do a recce of the house while Saif was still in the hospital. I gave some very basic suggestions, but none of those things were in place. There’s no reason why they weren’t there… but they should have been. These are basics. Every home should have them. So, I implemented those basic measures.”

When asked if the home lacked basic safety protocols, Ronit clarified, “I wouldn’t say they were missing, but they weren’t being paid attention to. That’s because you don’t expect something like this to happen. And that’s exactly when it happens, when you’re not expecting it. That’s what intelligence is: you assess what could happen and plug those loopholes.”

He also described the tense moment when Saif was returning home from the hospital. “You know how crowded it was everywhere,” Ronit recalled. “When Bebo left the hospital for home, there was a minor scuffle around her car, like an attempted attack. She got really scared. There were so many media people and even others who had pushed through and the car was shaking. So she called me and asked me to bring Saif home. Once he was back, we had security fully in place, with strong support from the police as well. Now, everything is fine.”

In the same interview, Ronit also reflected on why he launched his own security firm back in 1996. “A friend once told me something I’ll never forget,” he said. “He told me, even if your films don’t work, you are a brand. You are Ronit Roy, and no one can take that away from you.” He also shared that during that period, acting offers had dried up, and he needed to find a way to keep things afloat at home. Taking his friend’s advice to heart, he ventured into the security consultancy business.
