Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani: Shabana Azmi to play Dharmendra’s old flame? Hint in new pics

As fans eagerly wait for the release of director Karan Johar’s Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, new stills from the romantic drama film have been shared online. The pictures tease new details about the film’s plot, hinting at a past romance between Dharmendra and Shabana Azmi’s characters. The new pictures also share a glimpse of Jaya Bachchan, Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh, who play pivotal roles in the film. Dharmendra also took to Instagram to share a cute picture with Alia, talking about his old romance in the film.

In the new stills shared by Dharma Productions, Dharmendra is holding a knitted red muffler and looking reminiscent. In another still, Shabana, who is wearing a red saree, is holding the same red muffler, her eyes filled with nostalgia as she fondly reminisces about someone special. In the film, Dharmendra will play Rocky’s (Ranveer Singh) grandfather and Shabana will be seen in the role of Rani’s (Alia Bhatt) grandmother. The new stills also show Jaya Bachachan, who plays the role of Rocky’s grandmother, in a blue suit. Two new stills featuring Ranveer and Alia have also been shared, teasing their chemistry in the film.

Sharing the picture, Dharmendra wrote, “Friends, Loving Aliaa is showing me glimpses of my romantic past ….. …… Rocky aur Rani ki prem kahani.” Is Dharmendra also referring to Shabana Azmi as his past romance in the film? Only time will tell.

The teaser of Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani was released on June 20. The film, directed by Karan Johar, will hit the theatres on July 28. It marks Karan’s return to feature filmmaking after a gap of seven years. Dharmendra recently attended the wedding celebrations of his grandson, Karan Deol. Alia will make her Hollywood debut this year, with the spy thriller Heart of Stone. Ranveer was last seen in the comedy film Cirkus, which bombed at the box office.
