Raveena Tandon said she ‘felt like Indira Gandhi’ while shooting Shool, Manoj Bajpayee recalled ‘six layers of police personnel’ around her
Manoj Bajpayee revealed that Raveena Tandon had six layers of police around on the sets of Shool, and that almost 10,000 people came to see her in person.

Actor Manoj Bajpayee has shared an interesting incident from his time shooting the film Shool, alongside Raveena Tandon and Rajpal Yadav. Manoj said that they were shooting in his village Bettiah, and there were approximately 10,000 people who had gathered outside the set to catch a glimpse of the actors, especially Raveena Tandon, who was at the peak of her career at the time.
In an interview with The Lallantop, he said, “I felt like there could have been a riot if people crossed the barricade and came inside. Raveena Tandon was a superstar and was at the top that time. My father also came to see her.”
He added, “After shooting the scene, the way we took Raveena out from there is historic in itself. There were six layers of police personnel surrounding Raveena. When I asked her if she was facing any problem, Raveena said, ‘I am feeling like Indira Gandhi here.’” The actor was all praise for Rajpal, and said, “After Rajpal Yadav’s first two takes, me and Raveena were very shocked and impressed.”
Raveena had earlier revealed that Ram Gopal Varma was not keen on casting her in the film. On Netflix’s Actors’ Roundtable, she said, “If you see Shool, there’s Manoj Bajpayee and me. I am Manjiri, playing a lower middle class Bihari housewife with that orange sindoor and everything. Ramu was the producer, Ram Gopal Varma. And he was not convinced at all. He said, ‘No yaar Raveena. I shut my eyes and I can only see you do ‘Ankhiyon Se Goli Maare.’ I was like, ‘Ramu please yaar!’ He could not see me as Manjiri.”
