Ranveer Singh was going through a bit of a slump in his career when he starred in Karan Johar’s film Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, which emerged as a hit and Ranveer’s performance was unanimously loved. For Karan Johar, this was his first experience with universal acclaim. Now, the duo has appeared in Aryan Khan’s show The Ba***ds of Bollywood, playing versions of themselves.

In the first episode of the show, Karan and Ranveer meet at a red carpet where Ranveer enters with a broken foot, because he wants to get out of Karan’s film. Karan is extremely disappointed to see this and tells Ranveer, “My movie saved your f***ing career.” In response, Ranveer says, “My performance saved your f***ing movie.” While it is not clearly said, netizens have joined the dots and said that they might be talking about Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. “Are they talking about Rocky Rani,” wrote one fan, while others endorsed this opinion.

In another scene of the show, Ranveer can be seen speaking to SS Rajamouli over a call as he declares that he is pretending to have a broken foot so he can get out of Karan’s film, and work with Rajamouli.

Ranveer Singh hasn’t had a theatrical release as a lead hero since Karan’s film, which also starred Alia Bhatt. He was seen in a small role in Singham Returns last year, reprising his character from Simmba. Ranveer is now looking forward to the release of Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar. He was also announced as the lead hero of Farhan Akhtar’s Don 3, but the film is yet to enter production.

Karan Johar has a longer character arc on Aryan’s show, where he is playing a fictionalised version of himself.
