Following the death of Amir Sarfaraz —  a key figure in Sarabjit Singh’s murder in Lahore’s Kot Lakhpat Jail in 2013 — who was reportedly assassinated in Lahore, actor Randeep Hooda, ‘thanked’ unnamed individuals responsible for shooting Amir. Randeep, who was recently seen in Swatantra Veer Savarkar, played Sarabjit in Omung Kumar-helmed biopic, Sarbjit in 2016.  The biopic also stars Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Richa Chadha and Darshan Kumar. Reacting to the news of Amir also known as Tamba — a notorious underworld figure from Pakistan — being shot, Randeep, took to X (formerly Twitter), and wrote, “KARMA. Thank you unknown men (sic)” with folded hands emoji.

The actor shared a screenshot of the news on his account and tweeted, “Remembring my sister Dalbir Kaur and sending love to Swapandeep Poonam, today some justice to martyr Sarabjit Singh has been served.” Amir is said to have been attacked by assailants riding motorcycles, at his Lahore residence. He succumbed to the injury and died.

Talking to IANS, Randeep shared,  “While doing the Sarabjit biopic it was always a very tragic feeling that when things were on the verge of working out to extradite him to India and get him back home to his family he was murdered in the jail,” said the actor. He further added, “Hearing about his attacker being killed, I wonder what Dalbir ji (Sarabjit’s sister) would have felt. I’m sure it would have been a feeling of some justice served after she fought to get him for years on end.”  The actor, who attended the last rites of Dalbir Kaur who died in 2022, added, “Karma does catch up even if through unknown men”

Sarabjit, who was sentenced to death by the Supreme Court of Pakistan in 1991, spent two decades in prison for alleged terrorism and spying where he was eventually murdered.
