‘Ranbir Kapoor never cribs on set; worked for 16 hours non-stop, gave 52 retakes,’ recalls Boney Kapoor: ‘Till the director isn’t satisfied..’
Producer Boney Kapoor talks about working with Ranbir Kapoor on the sets of Tu Jhooti Main Makkaar and how the actor was professionalism personified.

Actor Ranbir Kapoor has many fans, both within the industry and certainly outside of it. The 42-year-old has an impressive filmography and has worked with many stalwarts of the game. Film producer Boney Kapoor worked alongside him in the film Tu Jhooti Main Makkaar (2023), and in a recent interview, Boney recalled how Ranbir doesn’t compromise on his performance at all and remains extremely patient during the filming process.
In a preview shared by Game Changers of India, Boney told Komal Nahta about how Ranbir is a true professional who never complains about the work, the timings, or the number of retakes the director requires to get the right shot. He said, “Ranbir is an actor that I have never seen cribbing on the set. We have shot for 16 hours at a stretch. We were shooting during the summer in Delhi, and it was very hot. So we switched the schedule; instead of shooting in the day, we will shoot in the night from 9 pm to 6 am in the morning. We did it to shoot in cooler weather, and he didn’t crib or say anything for a single second.”
He recalled how during the shooting of the film, Ranbir had to give more than 50 retakes for a particular shot, but somehow the actor maintained his composure throughout the process and even gave the veteran some advice to do the same. “In one of the takes, we shot 52 times, and the retakes were happening due to several different reasons. He gave full respect to the crew, and when I had to do 15 retakes, I got a little irritated. He came up to me and said, ‘Maine kare hai na 52 takes (I have done 52 takes myself); till the time the director is not satisfied, you have got to give it all,’ said Boney.
This isn’t the first time Ranbir has been complimented by a fellow member of the film fraternity. Actor Indira Krishnan, who will be playing the actor’s mother in the upcoming Ramayana, also talked about Ranbir and appreciated his skill and demeanour. She told Bollywood Bubble that “Ranbir has worked, not only on his physicality, but even his eyes speak a different language. Like Lord Rama is supposed to have strong shoulders because he carries his bow and arrow, Ranbir has worked on his shoulders and his body. He would work out for 3-4 hours and was always punctual on the set. After packing up also, he would get back to working out. His dedication was 200 per cent.”
The actor, who had also worked with him in Animal, mentioned how Ranbir would behave like the characters he was playing and said, “When I met him on Animal, he had that thing in his eyes; you could see his character in his eyes, and he would always be secluded on the set. He knows his job really well. The intensity that he brings to his work – I would rank him number one among all artists. He is like atta; you can mould him in whichever way, and he will come out like a phulka.”
