Actor Manoj Bajpayee said that he owes his career to director Ram Gopal Varma, who plucked him from obscurity and cast him in a star-making role in the film Satya. In an interview, Manoj said that he's still in touch with RGV, but the director usually calls him when he wants to berate him for doing bad work. RGV, who ushered in a new era in Bollywood with his gritty films of the 90s and early 2000s, has in recent years fallen out of favour with the mainstream. The scores of people he launched in the films are often asked about the director's career, and how he is no longer working at the level that he used to. In an interview with Sucharity Tyagi, Manoj said that he's still in touch with the man who gave him his first big break. "I owe my career to him. We stay in touch. Sometimes, he calls me just to abuse me. I did this music video 'Sapne Mein Milti Hai', I did it as a favour, out of goodness. And he called me, and said, 'What have you done, it's not good'. I told him, 'Ramu, sometimes you have to do some things for your friends'." The actor said that RGV told him he understands, but still yelled at him. The music video, directed by Ganesh Acharya, is produced by Vinod Bhanushali, and features Dhvani Bhanushali and Abhimanyu Dassani. Manoj appears only for a few seconds, but the song itself is a remix of a track from Satya. Manoj and RGV have worked together on films such as Daud, Sarkar, and Shool, which RGV produced.
