Rakesh Roshan says time to ‘pass on the baton’ as he confirms not directing Krrish 4: ‘If I am not in my senses…’
As speculation grows about Karan Malhotra directing Krrish 4, Rakesh Roshan admits it's time to 'pass the baton.'
Hrithik Roshan will make his directorial debut with Krrish 4.Last year, filmmaker Rakesh Roshan announced his retirement from direction and stated that he would soon be announcing Krrish 4 but would not be directing the film. Now, as speculation gains momentum about Karan Malhotra helming the fourth installment of the hit franchise, Rakesh has broken his silence and admitted that the time has come for him to ‘pass the baton.’
In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Rakesh was asked about his thoughts on someone else directing a franchise he developed. He responded, “The day has to come when I have to pass on the baton. So, it’s better I do it when I am in my senses, so that I can overlook the process as well and ascertain whether he’s doing it correctly or not. Tomorrow, if I am not in my senses and I’ll have to pass it on, I will not know what they are making.”
Rakesh Roshan clarified that he had no regrets about his decision, saying, “That chance we have to take. Also, there’s no guarantee that if Rakesh Roshan directs Krrish 4, it’ll be a blockbuster. It might be the other way round as well.”
Rakesh Roshan started the much-loved Krrish franchise with the sci-fi film Koi Mil Gaya in 2003, starring Hrithik Roshan and Preity Zinta in lead roles. Following its massive success, he directed Krrish in 2006, featuring Hrithik and Priyanka Chopra in the lead. The superhero film, made on a budget of Rs 40 crore, became a major box office hit. In 2013, Rakesh helmed Krrish 3, which also starred Hrithik and Priyanka, with Vivek Oberoi and Kangana Ranaut joining the cast.
