Rakesh Bedi narrates his harrowing experience during Himachal Pradesh landslide: ‘A massive boulder tumbled… narrowly missed our car’
In a selfie video posted on his official Instagram account, Rakesh Bedi began by drawing his followers' attention to the severe impact of landslides on Shimla and Uttarakhand.

Prominent film and television actor Rakesh Bedi recently shared a harrowing incident he faced during his visit to Himachal Pradesh a fortnight ago, which resulted in an injury. In a selfie video posted on his official Instagram account, Bedi began by drawing his followers’ attention to the severe impact of landslides on Shimla and Uttarakhand. He highlighted the issue of mountains collapsing, leading to road blockages, disrupting everyday life and halting vehicular movement.
“I travelled to Solan in Himachal Pradesh two weeks ago, with the purpose of giving a lecture on acting. On our way back, the main highway got blocked due to a landslide, so we opted for an alternate route,” he recalled.
“En route, a massive boulder tumbled down right in front of us. Thankfully, it narrowly missed our car; otherwise, the outcome could have been fatal. Upon encountering the rock, I became He-Man and tried to lift it off the road. Unexpectedly, it shifted forward momentarily and then rolled back, landing on my finger. This incident left my finger severely injured and partially hanging. Over time, it has substantially healed. Had the injury been slightly more severe, I might have lost the finger altogether. Eventually, with the assistance of a JCB machine, the road was cleared, enabling us to continue our journey from the location,” Bedi added.

“My thoughts go out to all those who are currently stranded in the mountains as a result of the landslides, and I sincerely pray for their safety,” he concluded.
Beginning his journey in the film industry with a supporting role in the 1979 film Hamare Tumhare, Bedi gained fame through his humourous performance in Sai Paranjpye’s romantic comedy Chashme Buddoor.
He also received recognition for his roles in the film Ek Duuje Ke Liye and the television sitcoms Shrimaan Shrimati and Yes Boss.
Rakesh Bedi’s most recent appearance on the big screen was in the period action drama Gadar 2, where he starred alongside Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel. The film is currently running in theatres.
