R Madhavan’s directorial debut Rocketry bags National Award on mother’s birthday: ‘All yours, Appa’s and Nambi sir’s blessings’
Rocketry: The Nambi Effect was written, produced and directed by R Madhavan. The actor played ISRO scientist Nambi Narayanan in the film.

A birthday, a film, a big win and countless blessings. Actor-filmmaker R Madhavan on Thursday said he was blessed that his directorial debut Rocketry: The Nambi Effect bagged the best feature film honour at the 69th National Film Awards.
Rocketry was written, produced and directed by Madhavan. In the film, the actor-filmmaker played Nambi Narayanan, the Indian Space Research Organisation scientist, who was accused in the ISRO espionage case and later exonerated.
Madhavan took to his Instagram story and posted a selfie with his mother, along with a screenshot of the title card announcing Rocketry: The Nambi Effect as the best feature film at the National Film Awards. The text read, “Wish you the happiest birthday Amma. All yours, Appas, Nambi sir’s blessings.”

The actor also shared a statement and said he was grateful to have had the opportunity to portray Nambi Narayanan on-screen. “I extend my heartfelt thanks to the National Film Awards jury for recognizing our film. This award is not just for me, but for all those who believed in the story we wanted to tell. Nambi Sir’s life is an inspiration, and I am grateful to have had the opportunity to portray his incredible journey on screen.”
Rocketry premiered at the Cannes Film Festival last year, before it released theatrically in July and received mixed to positive reviews. The film also featured superstar Shah Rukh Khan in a special appearance. In the Tamil version of the movie, Surya made a cameo apperance.
At the 69th National Film Awards, Allu Arjun was named the Best Actor for the film Pushpa, while Alia Bhatt and Kriti Sanon shared the award for Best Actress for the films Gangubai Kathiawadi and Mimi respectively. The Kashmir Files, meanwhile, won the Nargis Dutt Award for Best Film on National Integration.
