(Photo: Mankirt Aulakh/Instagram)In the last few years, there have been many reports of Punjabi artistes getting death threats, and firing outside their houses and establishments in Canada. Punjabi singer Mankirt Aulakh recently spoke about the same and said that living in Punjab is now safer than living in Canada. Mankirt was a close friend of Sidhu Moose Wala, and during the investigation into Moose Wala’s murder, both his name and his manager’s name cropped up.
Soon after Sidhu’s death, Mankirt left for Canada. He explained that, at the time, he was portrayed as having gone into hiding, when in reality he had only left because his wife was due to give birth. He wanted to be in Canada for his son’s arrival, who was born just 20 days after Sidhu’s death. “I have faced a lot of allegations and threats,” he told The Lallantop.
Mankirt Aulakh said that he moved to Canada with excitement but eventually realised that he would have to move back because of security reasons. “I used to live in Canada, my family was also there but it became so difficult. I was so excited to live in Canada but I couldn’t live there. I had to move back here to India because firing has become so common in Canada. It’s not safe at all,” he said and added that in Punjab, he feels safe because of Punjab police. “Here, we are safe because of the Punjab police. There is security here. In Canada and America, we don’t have any security. You can’t have a bullet proof car in Canada so I had to move here,” he said.

He shared that gang wars are at an extreme in Punjab at the moment but they feel safe only because of the cops. “Punjab police have given us security. It is because of that we are safe. Otherwise, gang war is at its peak in Punjab.” He said that when it comes to security, “Canada is even worse.”
He recalled, “There have been so many conspiracies against me. At one point, it was said that involve Mankirt’s name in this mess, get him in the prison and there, we will get him killed.” He shared that moving around in Canada has become so difficult that once someone steps out of the airport, “you are just looking over your shoulder.”
In the past, shots have been fired outside Kapil Sharma, Gippy Grewal, AP Dhillon’s residences and businesses in Canada.
