Priyanka Chopra, Quantico Priyanka Chopra on Quantico: I hope people like it and it does well.

Her ‘Quantico’ trailer may have received a positive response, but that has not managed to calm Priyanka Chopra’s nerves about the American TV show, which will be aired in September.

Priyanka will be seen playing the role of a half-Indian, half-American FBI agent in the show. “I hope people like it and it does well. But, it’s still new to me and I’m not sure if the world is ready for it. I’m very nervous about that,” said the actress.

She also addressed the unfair stereotypical trend observed in international showbiz with regard to Indian talent. “Indian talent has always been put in a stereotype box, well in fact, we are such a huge population that more of us speak English than the population of America. I was also told initially that have a little more of an Indian accent and I would say but this is an Indian accent. We don’t talk like Apu from the ‘Simpsons’. And I hate that they put us in this box – that we only eat curry and are all henna and bindi. We are so much more than that.”

The former beauty queen, who will be seen in Zoya Akhtar’s ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’, said she was clear to the ABC team that she wanted to be ethnically ambiguous.

“When ABC came to me with ‘Quantico’, I told them I want to be taken seriously as an actor, which should have nothing to do with my ethnicity. I am half Indian and half American in the show. But, the fact that I’m Indian has nothing to do with the story.”

She hopes that the series will change prospects for Indians internationally. “I hope ‘Quantico’ opens a lot more doors for Indian talent, not just in acting but for musicians and directors as well,” said Priyanka.
