(Photo: T-Series/YouTube)The popular south Indian actor Priyamani gained relevance up North after starring opposite Shah Rukh Khan, first in a Chennai Express song and later in Atlee’s Jawan, and Manoj Bajpayee in Prime Video’s hit series The Family Man. But after doing a special dance sequence in Chennai Express, the actor was stormed with offers to do special dance numbers in the movies, which she refused to accept.
In a latest interview with India Today, Priyamani shared she didn’t want to be associated only with dance numbers, hence refused to do any of them, despite garnering praise for her Chennai Express song “One Two Three Four Get On The Dance Floor”, where she was paired opposite SRK.
Admitting to getting typecast in the film industry despite being a part of numerous significant projects spanning different languages the actor shared, “Post Chennai Express, I kept getting a lot of offers from people where they wanted me to do special numbers. I said, ‘No, I don’t want to do it. I don’t want to be known just for that.’ I purely did that only for Shah Rukh Khan because I love him and I wanted to star opposite him.”
After Chennai Express, Priyamani shared the screen with Shah Rukh again in Jawan. Sharing her experience of working with the King Khan of Bollywood, she shared, “Shah Rukh is all heart. He is a man who I am sure must have fare share of haters, but people who love him are more. He is such a humble, gentle soul, very nice man. He is very courteous and respectful when it comes to anybody, not just women.”

While Priyamani holds Shah Rukh in high regard for his humble behaviour, she also has had a great experience working with ‘phenomenal’ Manoj Bajpayee on The Family Man. She played Bajpayee’s wife in the series.
Sharing what she learnt from the actor, she said, “With Manoj sir, I have learnt a lot of improvisation. I have the liberty to do it now, maybe not in Hindi, but in the South languages, I do it sometimes. He is very spontaneous and you always have to be on your toes when you are working with such a phenomenal actor as Manoj sir.”
Created by Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK, The Family Man was launched in 2019 on Amazon Prime Video. The show is about Srikant Tiwari, a world-class spy, who has to fight to save his country while protecting his family from the impact of his secretive, high-pressure and low-paying job. The next season of the show is currently in the making.
