Preity Zinta hits back at trolls for their ‘cynicism’; asks what’s wrong with appreciating PM: ‘If you are a proud Hindu or Indian…’

It seems that Preity Zinta's reaction was inspired by the comments one of her earlier posts received, where she shared her experience interacting with Grok3, seeing which some wondered if it was part of some paid promotion.

Finding fault with netizens’ alleged tendency to quickly categorise people, assign labels and contribute to online toxicity, actor Preity Zinta on Friday penned a long post condemning such actions. She also urged people to relax and engage in open conversations instead of rushing to conclusions. It seems that her reaction was inspired by the comments one of her earlier posts received, where she shared her experience interacting with the AI chatbot Grok3, seeing which some wondered if her post was part of some paid promotion.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter) on Friday, Preity questioned the state of social media, expressing surprise at how cynical people have become. She also pushed back against the tendency to assume that anyone who appreciates Prime Minister Narendra Modi must align with his political ideology. “If one talks about their first chat with an AI bot then people presume it’s a paid promotion. If you appreciate your PM, then you are a bhakt and god forbid, if you are a proud Hindu or Indian, then you are an andh bhakt! Let’s keep it real folks and take people for who they are and not who we think they should be! Maybe we all need to take a chill pill and just be happy to communicate with each other,” she wrote.

Anticipating that her post might invite comments about her American husband Gene Goodenough, she preemptively addressed it, saying, “Now don’t ask me why I married Gene. I married him because I love him. Kyuki sarhad par ek aisa shaks hai, jo mere liye aapni jaan de sakta hai, samjhe (Because there is one person across the border who can give his life for me). If you know you know. Ting!” Preity tied the knot with Gene Goodenough at a private ceremony in Los Angeles in 2016. They are currently parents to twins.

Earlier in the day, Preity Zinta had shared her thoughts on interacting with Grok3, a flagship AI model launched by Elon Musk-owned xAI. Mentioning that she spent over two hours having “the most fun conversation”, the actor shared that the experience felt so real and unfiltered that she almost forgot she was speaking to a machine. “It’s both scary and fascinating,” she remarked, while also commending the developers for their work. However, some users quickly questioned the authenticity of her excitement, suspecting the post was part of a paid promotion. She, however, clarified that it was not.

Preity is currently working on director Rajkumar Santoshi’s period actioner Lahore 1947, sharing the screen with Sunny Deol. The film is produced by Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan and will mark Preity’s return to Bollywood after seven years. She was last seen in the action comedy Bhaiaji Superhit (2018).
