Actor Prateik Babbar (Prateik Smita Patil) got married to his lady love Priya Banerjee on Valentine’s Day. The couple took the plunge in an intimate ceremony in the presence of extremely close family members. However, Prateik’s father Raj Babbar, and his siblings were not invited to his big day. Raj Babbar’s son Aarya also expressed his displeasure over the same during several media interviews. Now, in an interview with Hindustan Times, Prateik’s wife Priya has opened up about their marriage and addressed these ‘false rumors’ about some family members not being invited.

Talking about the wedding she said, “Our wedding day turned out to be exactly as we dreamt of and imagined. It was intimate and special and with the people we love the most all under one roof. It was more special as we got married at Rock Cliff, which is Prateik’s mom’s house. She bought for him so she could live with him and raise him there but unfortunately, she was unable to do that. And, we believe that it was her gift to us that she wanted us to get married in that house and so we did.”

Talking about Raj Babbar and other family’s absence from the wedding, Priya shared, “The most special part was that our closest family was with us. His two aunts and my parents were there to celebrate with us. They are the closest, most loved people to us and we got married in his mum’s house, which made us feel her presence. In fact, everyone present said that they felt she was there with us. There was absolutely no family member who was missing from the wedding or our celebrations. I don’t know why there are rumors that “family members” were absent. Our families were there including my parents, his aunts who raised him, his nana-nani, and everyone who mattered, and his family was with us. And there was absolutely nobody who is family and was missing.”

Aarya, who has been hurt by Prateik not inviting them to the wedding, said the newly married actor hurt his late mother’s soul but not having his father around on his big day. Talking about the issue, Juhi Babbar had earlier spoken in an interview and said, “I’m not defending Aarya, but he is obviously hurt, just like everyone else. When someone is hurt, they have the right to express themselves. This is a sensitive topic, and it has been even before Prateik was born. But no matter what, Prateik is my brother and nothing in the world can change that, nor the fact that hum ek hi baap (Raj Babbar) ki aulaad hain.”

She also added, “Right now, he is surrounded by a few people—whom we don’t wish to name—who have influenced him. But we don’t want to sandwich him in the middle because that won’t help anyone.” Earlier Aarya had also told ETimes, “I presume someone has overpowered his brain too much. He is not wanting to connect with anyone from this side of the family. He has decided not to call anyone. Life is not less than a film; someone in the house is influencing him. I don’t want to think it is Prateik, and I don’t think he is like that.”
