Ending weeks of speculation, Hombale Films has officially revealed the release date for Prashanth Neel’s highly-anticipated Prabhas-starrer Salaar Part 1 – Ceasefire. Though rumours were rife about its potential clash with Rajkumar Hirani’s Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Dunki, Hombale Films had not confirmed anything until now.

However, the production company has now made the significant announcement that Salaar is set to grace the silver screen on December 22, 2023, decisively going head-to-head with Dunki.

“Coming bloody soon,” Hombale Films noted while sharing posters of the film announcing the release date. Apart from Prabhas, Salaar also features Prithviraj Sukumaran, Shruti Haasan and Jagapathi Babu in key roles.

Marking the first collaboration between KGF director Prashanth Neel and Baahubali star Prabhas, it was earlier announced that the film would hit the screens on September 28. However, Hombale Films, earlier this month, announced that the movie won’t be released on the said date. In a statement, it noted that the delay in the release was only because they want to “meet the high standards” and deliver an “exceptional cinematic experience”.

The statement read, “We deeply appreciate your unwavering support for #Salaar. With consideration, we must delay the original September 28 release due to unforeseen circumstances. Please understand this decision is made with care, as we’re committed to delivering an exceptional cinematic experience. Our team is working tirelessly to meet the highest standards.”

Also starring Taapsee Pannu, Dia Mirza, Boman Irani and Dharmendra, Dunki is Shah Rukh Khan’s third release this year, after the historic successes of Pathan and Jawan, both of which grossed over Rs 1,000 crore worldwide. The film also marks SRK’s maiden collaboration with the legendary director Rajkumar Hirani.

During a press conference earlier this month, SRK opened up about Dunki. “We started with January 26 (Pathaan), it was a good auspicious day. Then Janmashtami, on the occasion of Krishna ji’s birthday we released this film (Jawan). Now there is the New Year, Christmas. We will bring Dunki at that time. I think of national integration. Jis din meri film release hoti hai, uss din Eid hota hai. (And whenever my film is released, it’s Eid anyway). I’m working harder than I worked in the last 29 years. I will keep working hard because now I’m the happiest when people get happy after watching the film,” he said.

During a recent #AskSRK session on Twitter, Bollywood’s Baadshah had reiterated that the movie will hit the screens on December 22 itself, just like the team announced months back.
