Nikkhil Advani replied with a sad smiley after cutting ties with Milap Zaveri following Satyamev Jayate 2 disaster: ‘Once I failed, I was not of any use’
In a recent interview, Milap Zaveri spoke about his constant clashes with Nikkhil Advani over their different style of cinema. Milap says, 'it was one failure that took Nikkhil to wash his hands of me.'

After the failure of Satyamev Jayate 2, writer-director Milap Zaveri has bounced back with Singham Again. As one of the writers on Rohit Shetty’s multi-starrer, Milap believes that he has added the right ‘tadka’ to the potboiler. In a conversation with Siddharth Kannan, Milap Zaveri opened up about being a part of Singham Again, and also addressed his fallout with Emmay Entertainment boss Nikkhil Advani.
Milap said, “During Singham Again, I was very lucky to have Rohit as a guiding factor. The dialogues and the first draft were already written. I came one month before the film went on floors, and Rohit told me his script was ready, but it needed my ‘tadka’ and punchlines. It was an honour for me. I got my comedy timing to Simmba’s character, but a great script was already written by the team.”

Milap also addressed his issues with Nikkhil Advani after the failure of Satymev Jayate 2, which Advani produced. He said, “After Satyamev Jayate 2’s failure. a lot of people left my side, but Monisha Advani (Nikkhil’s sister) stood by me. Now we are not working together… that time, when I took any project to Emmay Entertainment, it just wasn’t materialising. I love and respect Nikhil a lot, but we are different filmmakers and different kinds of human beings too. We both believe in different kinds of cinemas. Till the time my cinema worked it was good, the minute it failed I started to feel like I was the bad apple in the company.”

“I always wish him the best, but I feel, to an extent, Nikkhil especially washed his hands off me. He was happy that the films he wanted to make at Emmay Entertainment he could continue to make. He realised that he didn’t have to continue making the massy Manmohan Desai-style cinema that I was making, because I had failed. Monisha also faced backlash for encouraging me. I felt a little let down, mainly by Nikkhil Advani,” added Milap.
While Milap said he continues to cheer for Nikkhil and his company, he did message Nikkhil after they parted ways expressing his disappointment. Milap Zaveri shared, “He never understood my cinema, and that would lead to us clashing. Once I failed, I was not of any use, then I thought nobody needed me there. When my films were a hit, I got a lot of offers from directors and actors, but I said I would not work without Emmay. In that, I missed out on some big films, but when one of my films failed, Emmay Entertainment didn’t really want to do anything with me. It was pointed out to me, rubbed in my face that I made a disaster. I messaged him also that with just one flop, he dropped me, and he just replied with a sad smiley.”
