Navya Naveli Nanda credits her privileged background for career opportunities: ‘If I didn’t come from the family…’
Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan's granddaughter Navya Naveli Nanda acknowledged the privileged background she hails from and how it has influenced her career trajectory.

Navya Naveli Nanda, who is the granddaughter of Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan, has chosen to stay away from the movies and be an entrepreneur. She is also working at her father Nikhil Nanda’s company Escorts Group. As Navya is making her way in the world of entrepreneurship, she is often asked about her privileged background and how it helped her in her career. At a recent event, Navya opened up about the same and spoke about her family’s legacy.
In a chat with ABP, Navya acknowledged the privileged background she hails from and how it has influenced her career trajectory. She also emphasised her efforts to carve her path and capitalise on the opportunities provided by her family from a young age. She shared, “Everyone has a last name and everyone has a responsibility to carry their legacy forward, irrespective of the field that they are in. I am doing my bit to take the legacy forward and doing the best that I can to make my family proud. When we speak of privilege, I will give credit to where I am today to that. I don’t think I would be where I am if I didn’t come from the family that I came from. I was given a lot of opportunities at a very young age that most young girls my age don’t get. For me, it’s been important to make the best of those opportunities. I will give credit to where I am today, professionally and personally, to my family.”
Navya then spoke about the legacy from both sides of her family, maternal as well as paternal, and said that she wants to carry on with their philanthropic ventures. “There is so much that our parents and grandparents have done before us that I can feel a responsibility with the kind of work that has been done before me and the kind of work I would want to take forward. Even as we talk about the surname, in both sides of my family, it has always been about giving to the people, in different shapes and forms,” she said.
She added, “For instance, it can in the form of entertainment, it can be in the form of business. As a family we always believe in giving so that is just me creating an identity of myself in the way I am giving back but I am carrying forward that message or that legacy of always giving to others.”
Navya is currently hosting her podcast What the Hell Navya with her mother Shweta Bachchan and grandmother Jaya Bachchan.
