Mohenjo Daro quick movie review: Hrithik Roshan and Pooja Hegde’s Mohenjo movie has been shot on a massive scale.
Hrithik Roshan’s Mohenjo Daro is set in the Indus Valley civilisation, something we have all studied in our middle school history textbooks. Courtesy Ashutosh Gowariker, you will get a repackaged view of all those bits and pieces of historical details in his film, Mohenjo Daro.
Be it the seals, the details of internal and international trade, perpendicular streets in a highly sophisticated city, a multitude of professions or the exquisite weights and measures system, the great bath, priest kings, Gowariker has meticulously incorporated them all in his Hrithik, Pooja Hegde starrer.
Mohenjo Daro movie review: This Hrithik Roshan film is a lost cause
But in the process of recreating a prehistoric period for a feature film, Gowariker has made history appear almost comical. Half way through the film, neither does it manage to arouse historical curiosity nor is the romance and drama gripping enough to be called a great piece of cinematic art.

However the film’s appeal lies in the director ‘s imaginative capabilities. Gowariker makes Mohenjo Daro appear like what a city like Mumbai or Delhi would look like to someone coming from a village for the first time. The film might definitely not be Ashutosh’s best, but you have to give him credit for stimulating the imagination.
Where the film fails to work in the acting department. In fact, in some instances, it almost appears amateur. The script is pretty mundane too. Serious history lovers may find parts of Mohenjo Daro amusing. Ardent film lovers will find it tedious and boring.
